Gain Weight with a Fast Metabolism

by admin on July 20, 2010

Are you finding it nearly impossible to gain weight due to fast metabolism? If you’re anything like I was, you probably think that because of your “skinny genetics”, gaining weight is not possible, period. That’s exactly how I felt for a long time, till one day I was given a few very helpful tips that allowed me to stack on pounds of muscle mass practically on demand. Now I want to share some of those tips with you, here are a few of the main steps that allowed me to pack on pounds of solid muscle in weeks.

Gain weight with a fast metabolism tip #1
Proper nutrition: The reason you cannot gain weight with fast metabolism is simple, your body is burning more calories than you are taking in. If you fail to fuel your body with the proper foods and the right amounts, all your efforts are practically worthless. As “hardgainers” or skinny people who naturally have super fast metabolism, we must consume at least 20-24 times our body weight in calories. Anything less will just get burned and anything more will end up stored as unwanted fat. Remember, the type of foods you consume will reflect on your physique.

Gain weight with fast a metabolism tip #2
Keep track of your progress: If you are going to the gym and performing the same routines, with the same weight and same repetitions, your body will eventually feel no need to increase muscle size. You see, your body creates muscle after strenuous activity by repairing the muscle and making it bigger and stronger. With that being said, it is very important that you continue to add more stress and always outperform your last session.
- Add extra repetitions
- Increase the weight without decreasing repetitions
- Rest less between sets
- Add an extra set

Gain weight with a fast metabolism tip #3
Keep your body anabolic: Anabolism is the state your body is in when it’s growing and catabolism is the state in which your body does the opposite. After a strenuous workout your body has exhausted all of its energy and will start to feed off of your muscle tissue in order to create more energy. This is a catabolic state in which your muscle tissue is being sacrificed, your goal is to stop this effect and put your body in an anabolic state. Now most of you may know the importance of protein intake following your workout, but more important is the consumption of simple carbohydrates. Although these types of carbs are our enemy in most cases, post workout they will be your best friend. They are fast acting and will shoot your insulin levels up pushing your body into an anabolic state.

Gain weight with a fast metabolism tip #4
Increasing testosterone levels: Testosterone is the mother of all muscle building hormones. If you can manage to keep your testosterone levels high (naturally) you can easily yield steroid like results. If you are really trying to maximize results in order to pack on pounds and gain weight fast, here are a few tricks to increasing testosterone naturally:

- Sleep 8 hours a night and if possible, sneak a nap into your day.
- Focus on heavy compound workouts
- Train legs equal to upper body
- Increase the intake of oysters, celery, avocados, and bananas

Testosterone killers:
1. Soy products
2. Pain killers
3. Stress levels
4. Alcohol consumption

Gain weight with a fast metabolism tip #5
Resting: Contrary to popular belief, our bodies do not create muscle in the gym while we lift heavy weights. In fact, while lifting we are actually breaking down the muscle. Our bodies are actually restoring and building the muscle while we rest. If you are in the gym 5 days a week or more, you aren’t giving your body enough time to rest and repair. I recommend working out 3-4 days a week or every other day. With the proper rest, not only will your muscles have time to grow, but you will also be 100 percent for your next training session.

Conclusion
Just these 5 small steps will yield incredible results in no time. Notice nowhere in here did I mention the use of supplements. This is because even for us “hardgainers”, they are totally unnecessary. Eat right, lift heavy, and get plenty of rest for incredible weight gain.
